Abstract
Perforation of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract due to ingestion of foreign bodies (bones, toothpicks, dentures, etc.) is not very prevalent, its diagnosis is difficult and late mainly because patients do not usually remember their ingestion. At a radiological level it is also a challenge, since they are usually subtle objects not visible on x-rays, the test of choice is CT. If there is a clinical or radiological suspicion of perforation due to a foreign body, surgical and antibiotic treatment should be carried out as soon as possible. We present the case of an intestinal perforation secondary to the accidental ingestion of a toothpick.
