Abstract

The mood of students has an impact on the teaching-learning process by influencing motivation, memory and the ability to develop cognitive resources; therefore, mental health should be considered in the educational process. The main objective of this study is to evaluate the state of mind of our students, as well as to know the student diversity and their emotional maturity. The results derived could be the starting point for designing teaching methodologies that are better suited to each stage of their education according to their state of mind. To this end, we have resorted to the analysis of the Profile of Mood States (POMS) in undergraduate students of Health Sciences, from three Spanish universities. We analysed the results by degree and gender, finding that the degrees in Medicine and Pharmacy showed a worse mood compared to those in Nursing and Physiotherapy. The evolution was similar in men and women.
