Resum

Giant ovarian cysts are tumors larger than 10 cm in diameter that can cause a variety of important symptoms. They manifest with progressive abdominal distension, diffuse abdominal pain and organ compression (constipation, vomiting and micturition urgency). Its treatment is usually surgical. On the other hand, one of the most frequent complications of abdominoperineal amputations, after making a stoma, is its consequent parastomal hernia. On many occasions, these hernias can present complicating episodes such as intermittent obstruction, pain, and less frequently, episodes of incarceration. The combination of both pathologies is rare, and may require urgent action. We present a patient with an uncomplicated parastomal hernia who, due to the growth of a giant ovarian cyst, presented an episode of incarceration and obstruction, requiring urgent surgery with poor outcome.
