Abstract

Introduction: The urolithiasis is a disease with a peak incidence in the third to fourth decade of life and more common in men compared to women. The aim of this study is to analyze the differences of lithogenic factors by sex and age groups. Material and methods: Cross-sectional study included 150 patients diagnosed with urolithiasis those urinary biochemical study for analysis of calciuria, oxaluria, uricosuria, citraturia and magnesuria is performed. Differences are analyzed by sex and age groups with study of proportions using SPSS 17.0, statistical significance p≤0.05. Results: Of the 150 patients, 87 were men and 63 women. In men the most common metabolic abnormality was hyperuricosuria (32.2%) and women hypocitraturia (27%). By age group, patients aged 30-50 years, the most common metabolic abnormality was hyperuricosuria (30%), while it was between 51-70 years hypercalciuria (31.6%). The incidence of urolithiasis in patients under 30 or over 70 years was too low to achieve significant results. Conclusion: Although overall, hypercalciuria is the most common metabolic disorder, it is mainly observed in men and aged over 50 years increased frequency of hyperuricosuria.
