Resumen

Liquid crystal devices are an interesting approach for electronically reconfigurable tunable photonic devices that can be used in a large number of applications. Moreover, liquid crystals have demonstrated high tolerance to harsh ionizing radiation environments, making them particularly suitable for space applications. In this work, three different devices will be analyzed: a 2D beam steerer capable of deviating an incoming light beam with unprec edent angular resolution, a reconfigurable diffractive spiral axicon enabling depth of focus tuning, and a spiral diffractive lens able to switch between multiple positive and negative focal lengths. All these devices have been manufactured using direct laser writing in indium-tin oxide coated glass substrates, and employ nematic LCs for phase modulation of the incoming light beam.
