Abstract

In this paper we continue studying the assets of the Bazán family in Guadix and their land. Continuing with this analysis we find that the assets of the mayorazgo of Don Álvaro de Bazán were sold with the permission of the monarch Carlos V so that that money was invested in the purchase of the towns of Viso and Santacruz of the order of Calatrava. The crown sold some towns and made it easier for buyers to exchange their mayorazgos as long as the goods acquired from the state passed to the original mayorazgo. Documents from the Archive of Protocols of Guadix have provided us with the knowledge of the assets of Don Álvaro in these places of the kingdom of Granada.
