Zusammenfassung

This thesis explores the complexity and media specifity of larps—Live Action Role-Playing—, known in Spanish as “rol en vivo”. This is a global and comprehensive study of this medium that will provide the first exhaustive bibliographic review within the Spanish context, along with some methodological proposals that may open the door to future research. This will be based on active participation in narrative and immersive larps, along with interviews with a selected corpus of Spanish designers, in order to integrate an internal view of this community. Thus, the ludonarrative, structural thematic, contextual, and intermedial characteristics of larp, as well as its convergence with other forms of artistic and media expressiion —such as theatre or tabletop role-playing games themselves—will be examined, with special attention to their possible collaborative elements and related fan content.
