Doctor by the Universidad de Granada with the thesis Caracterización y determinación de bisfenol A y compuestos relacionados en muestras ambientales y fluidos biológicos por espectrofluorimetría y cromatográfia de gases-espectrometría de masas 2001. Supervised by Dr. José Luis Vílchez Quero, Dr. Monsalud del Olmo Iruela.

Professor of Chemistry attached to the Department of Analytical Chemistry at the University of Granada and the Instituto Biosanitario de Granada, ibs.Granada. D. from the same University, having carried out pre- and postdoctoral studies at the Free University of Amsterdam (The Netherlands) and at the University of Coimbra (Portugal). My PhD thesis, focused on the determination of bisphenol A in environmental and biological samples, received an extraordinary PhD award in 2001. After a short postdoctoral period of 6 months, I was hired by Puleva Biotech S.A. for 5.5 years (2001-2006), as a researcher, and later, in 2007 (2007-2009) by NeuronBioPharma S.A. for 3 years, as head of R&D&I Management and as head of the Natural Products Chemistry Department. Companies, among many others, with which I have maintained scientific collaborations of interest throughout my subsequent research career. From the point of view of scientific production, I am the author of 142 papers of high scientific relevance as shown by the fact that they are all published in indexed international journals of different specialities with a high impact index (103 in Q-1 and 116 in T-1 in the specialities of Analytical Chemistry, Environment, Health, Toxicology, Biotechnology and Food Science and Technology). I have also published 6 books, 7 book chapters and I am co-inventor of 4 patents (2 national and 2 international) in exploitation by the companies owning the rights. I have a total of 5826 citations, with an H-index of 46 and an i-10 index of 106 in Google Scholar; and 3880 citations with an H-index of 39 in the Web of Science. In addition, I am co-author of 170 communications to national and international scientific conferences and meetings, many papers and oral communications. I have participated and/or participate in 30 projects and 8 research contracts funded in public and private calls, both national and international, being in many of them the principal investigator and funder of funding for the research group. I have supervised a total of 16 doctoral theses and 52 final projects (master's or bachelor's degree), contributing my experience and knowledge to 68 students, many of whom are now successfully pursuing their professional careers at the University or outside it. of analysis based on numerous sample processing techniques (LLE, LLME, SPME, SPE, USE, PLE, SBSE, SM-SLLME, dSPE, QuEChERs); and in the validation of these methodologies. The research teams in which I work are always multidisciplinary, including researchers from different fields of science. My main line of work focuses on the study of the presence of drugs and synthetic chemical substances that may have biological activity as chemical endocrine disruptors (EDCs) in different environmental compartments (marine bioindicators, water, aquatic sediments, agricultural soils, WWTP sludge and compost from these sludges). The second line, closely related to the first, focuses on the possible bioaccumulation of these pollutants in human biological tissues and fluids (placenta, nails, hair, urine, serum and plasma, breast milk and faeces).
