Doctor by the Universidad de Cádiz with the thesis Estudio de las alteraciones inmunologicas, inmunoglobulinas, inmunocomplejos circulantes, complemento, granulocitos, receptores fc(igg) del sistema reticuloendotelial y reacciones de hipersensibilidad retardada en el curso de las sepsis 1986. Supervised by Dr. Eduardo Zamora Madaria.

After 42 years of professional experience, I have focused on training of undergraduate and postgraduate students in Clinical Microbiology, as well as in the clinical care of infectious pathology from the laboratory. José Gutiérrez Fernández has a degree in Medicine with Honors, from 1983. Work in the Area of Microbiology. He is Microbiologist & Full Professor from University Hospital Virgen de las Nieves & Faculty of Medicine. He is Director of the Research Group CTS 521 of the Junta de Andalucía "Translational Research in Medical Microbiology" since its inception in 2003. He is the author of publications indexed in journal (http://scholar.google.es/citations?user=ojjk9kgAAAAJ&hl=es) and 17 book chapters. It has drawn international utility patents. His research focuses on the study of infectious agents associated with clinical trials of unknown cause, and mechanisms of antimicrobial resistance. He wos Executive Vice-Dean for Academic Affairs, Faculty of Medicine of Granada since 2008, and General Coordinator of Degree in Medicine from the University of Granada. Politics, science, art, travelling, management, architecture are just an example of my passions.
