Leyre Morgado-Roncal is a PhD Candidate in Archaeology with a contract (2021-2025) from the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities at the Department of Prehistory and Archaeology at the University of Granada (Spain). Her PhD, Textrina emeritensis: Estudio arqueológico del ciclo productivo textil y su artesanado, deals with the archaeological study of the whole textile’s chaîne opératoire (from fibre to textiles) and its artisans in the Roman city of Augusta Emerita (Mérida, Spain). Simultaneously, she is a teaching assistant in the degree of Archaeology at the University of Granada (2022-2025). She is trained in textile technologies and hands-on approaches by Gillian Vogelsang-Eastwood (Intensive Textile Course, Textile Research Centre, Leiden, 2023), EuroWeb’s training schools (textile tools from Bronze Age Malia, 2023 and mineralized textiles from Pompeii, 2024) and Padova’s Textile Training School (2025). She is an active member of the EAA (European Association of Archaeologists, since 2021); COMTEXT (Community for Textile Archaeology and Conservation); EuroWeb COST Action 19131, and a collaborator in several archaeological projects like TEXLUS (PID2022-13666NB-100, 2023-2026).
