Abstract
The authors describe the importance of fat intake in infant brain development, even from the gestational age of the newborn,especially omega-3 fatty acids. It describes some of the alterations produced by fatty acid deficiency during childhood, in casesof restrictive diets. Finally is noted that alcohol is able to decrease the levels of fatty acids and thus alter cellular membranesand, therefore, brain function.
