Laburpena

The present Doctoral Thesis was proposed with the aim of investigating different alternatives for the valorization of the residue coming from greenhouse agriculture, which is especially abundant in the Mediterranean area of Spain. For this purpose, the research has been structured in four chapters, which have been focused on the specific objectives of the Doctoral Thesis: to characterize the waste and to study its properties for its use as fuel, to study the improvement in the properties of the waste by means of torrefaction and washing processes, to use the waste as a biosorbent for the elimination of cobalt present in aqueous media and to synthesize a liquid fuel by means of pyrolysis of the waste and its mixtures with plastic in different proportions. In conclusion, it has been demonstrated that the residual material from the greenhouse cultivation can be used for different applications, such as biosorption of heavy metals present in wastewater or the obtaining of a bio-oil that can be used as an alternative fuel.
