Abstract
The purpose of this study is to determine the influence of the dual tasks (DT) on the biomechanical parameters of gait in people with multiple sclerosis (PwME). Eleven PwME able to walk unassisted participated in this study. Intragroup used a repeated measures design where each participant performed a walk with and without DT, using three platforms force temporarily synchronized to a video camera from an electronic system that also managed the DT system. The results show that DT in PwME reduces the average stride length as well as displacement and horizontal velocity of the center of mass. In addition, DT affects to the balance in comparison with the situation without DT. The results confirm the need to encourage the development of exercise programs incorporating intentionally and controlled cognitive tasks related to DT.
