Abstract

The present article presents an investigation which took place in a specific islamic-occidental multicultural context: the town of Melilla. Its aim is to prove two basic assumptions for the Intercultural Curriculum, namely: the particularities of each culture ́s axiological choices and, secondly, the shared values of all individuals, being whatever his/her cultural origin. Diversity and unity are the two axis of the intercultural conflict, and all educative proposals on this matter should deal with the issue of harmonizing these two aspects. And it is just going deeper into the differents cultures the way we can find similarities in order to build a shared future. Of course, unity or diversity can only be talked abaut after a study of values. This research allows to demonstrate the dependence between values and culture in a specific multicultural context, and at the same time, two show the group of values shared by the two cultures. On the basis of this analysis, we have found possible to presentate some basic ideas for the elaboration of a Islamic-Occidental Intercultural Curriculum in Melilla.
