Résumé

At present it is producing an increase in sedentary behavior, one of the major health problems of the XXI Century, this problem has been characterized in the last decade the use of technological means such as computers, mobile phones and video games, during leisure time. This study aims to determine the sedentary habits (use of television and video games), and physical activity in school and university population, proving the relationship with the variables gender and educational stage. Participated in this study 155 individuals with an age range between 10 and 27 years, belonging to the educational stages of Primary, Secondary and University. Data were collected with a sociodemographic questionnaire of physical activity and sedentary behaviors. The results of the study indicate that most of the subjects analyzed watch television less than two hours per day, half of them are not physically active on a regular basis. Regarding the use of video games, half do not use them, and if they do, they play mostly one or two days a week, with elementary students the most played and college that you spend less time. The women are more sedentary than men, resulting in a decrease in physical activity from the primary stage to the University. Following these findings, we consider the inclusion of exergames in the classroom physical education to include the motivating element of competitive games.
