Abstract

Objective: the aim of this study is to analyze the specific Forgetting Curve which is generated after learning the three main psychomotor competences in the Generative Training Process of Advanced Cardiac Life Support in final year medical students of Granada ́s University. Methods: descriptive observational analysis. A series of dichotomous qualitative variables where measured in 26 final year medical students while receiving formal education in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and three months later. These competences where classified in four groups: 1. High-quality Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation 2. Instrumentalized management of the airway 3. Arrhythmias and defibrillation 4. Behavioral competences Results: after the students’ evaluation, we obtained an average of 23.31 in the first group (while receiving the formation) and 19.65 in the second one (three months after the formation), and a difference between them of 3.65, which ended up being statistically significant. Conclusions: the Forgetting curve developed for the three main techniques of Advanced Cardiac Life Support (high-quality Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, management of the airway and defibrillation) appears really fast, even more than current scientific evidence has stablished. It suggests that the implementation of Advanced Cardiac Life Supports formation in Public Universities is as important as different recycling systems used to mitigate this curve in Advanced Cardiac Life Support learning.
