Abstract

In this work we study some old machines intended to obtain water for irrigation of the land. We go over the so-called crankshaft, known to the Arabs as shaduf. In addition, we cite other instruments used by the Arabs in Spanish lands, especially in the kingdom of Murcia in the thirteenth century.
