Relación existente entre el conocimiento sobre ecoturismo y actitud hacia el desarrollo de la actividad ecoturística

Resumen

El turismo se conforma como un sector clave para el desarrollo, la prosperidad y el bienestar. Entre los diferentes tipos de turismo existentes, el ecoturismo hace referencia a aquellos viajes que tienen como finalidad realizar actividades recreativas en contacto directo con la naturaleza y la cultura local, con actitudes favorables a conocer, respetar, disfrutar y participar en la conservación de los recursos naturales y culturales del destino. El objetivo de esta investigación es analizar la relación existente entre el conocimiento sobre ecoturismo de los turistas y su actitud hacia el desarrollo de la actividad ecoturística. La metodología de la investigación ha consistido en un trabajo de campo, cuantitativo, que se ha realizado en seis zonas naturales de Quintana Roo, donde en los últimos años se ha experimentado un crecimiento de las visitas en las áreas protegidas. Las zonas naturales seleccionadas para el trabajo de campo constituyen un factor fundamental de las nuevas estrategias turísticas orientadas a la diversificación de la oferta de Cancún, uno de los principales destinos del Caribe. Entre los principales resultados, se ha podido comprobar que los ecoturistas muestran unos conocimientos altos sobre ecoturismo y unas aptitudes positivas hacia el desarrollo de la actividad ecoturística de las zonas naturales. También, se ha comprobado que existe una relación positiva entre el conocimiento sobre el ecoturismo y las actitudes hacia el desarrollo del ecoturismo. A partir de los resultados obtenidos, y como futuras líneas de investigación, se propone determinar hasta qué punto los conocimientos y actitudes hacia el ecoturismo que tienen los turistas influyen en el desarrollo de la interacción con los residentes.
