Zusammenfassung
In this paper, the oral reading of 30 pupils doing grades 3 and 4 has been recorded and analysed in order to know their reading speed in English and compare it with the one they have in Spanish as a first language. In addition to that, we study and classify their pronunciation errors and offer a taxonomy which can be used in other studies and with other students. In short, we inform the audience (and future readers) about the pupils’ reading speed with simple English texts whose language has been previously studied in class and analyse their stress, rhythm and intonation errors, their omissions, additions, repetitions, substitutions and hesitations when reading aloud.
