Abstract

According to Henry Jenkins' conceptualization of transmedia as a narrative logic, we explore how theatre has evolved from simple remediation to the development of projects that have been designed from the beginning following transmedia strategies, that is, a strategic transmedia according to the theories of Carlos Scolari. To demonstrate these ideas, we analyze some examples in recent years, with special attention to Spain since the declaration of the closure of theatrical activities due to COVID-19. We study a series of artistic practices that has been developed around remediation projects, such as Escenario 0 (HBO), or another transmedia example, such as Comedia sin título (Sara Molina Doblas) or El libro de Toji (Antonio Rojano). All of these shows go beyond the traditional scenocentric paradigm to settle in the virtual and participatory.
