Beneficios de la actividad sobre los síntomas de la menopausia. Revisión sistemática

Resumen

La menopausia es un periodo en la vida de la mujer, cuya actividad folicular ovárica se detiene, con presencia de debilidad muscular en sus actividades diarias. La actividad física podría reducir los síntomas de fatiga, mejorando la salud de la mujer y disminuyendo la posibilidad de padecer enfermedades cardiovasculares. El propósito de esta revisión fue analizar los programas de intervención realizados desde la actividad física, desarrollados en mujeres en el periodo de la perimenopausia o menopausia, para valorar sus efectos y beneficios en la salud de éstas. La búsqueda se realizó en las bases de datos Web of Science y Scopus, a partir de los descriptores “menopause y physical activity” y “randomized controlled trial”. De los 553 resultados obtenidos inicialmente, 23 artículos cumplieron con los criterios de inclusión y fueron seleccionados para conformar esta revisión. Los resultados muestran el impacto de los diferentes métodos de entrenamiento aplicados en mujeres alrededor del periodo menopáusico sobre la composición corporal, las bioquímicas de sangre o la salud mental. En conclusión, la literatura científica consultada muestra la viabilidad y la eficacia de los programas de intervención basados en ejercicio físico para la mejora del estado mental y capacidades físicas relacionadas con la salud y calidad de vida durante y después de la etapa de la menopausia.
